United Way of Kaw Valley is actively playing a role in the Douglas County Community Health Plan (CHP) by collaborating to identify local health and social service priorities and set goals to address those needs. Kathy Smith, Vice President of Douglas County Initiatives serves on the CHP Steering Committee and co-chairs the Anti-Poverty Workgroup. Through these coalitions, stakeholders will create a comprehensive health plan that will address both medical and social determinants of health.
The Engage Douglas County: Eudora Focus Group is preparing to collect data for a Eudora Community Needs Assessment. The group is basing its assessment questions on four of the six Douglas County Community Health Plan branches:
Many Douglas County organizational leaders are involved in the Eudora Focus Group, which also is partnering with Vickie Collie-Akers from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health Department and Dre'Vel Taylor, Douglas County Mobility Manager. The group's goal is to submit its data to the county near the end of June, the same time the county is wrapping up its data analysis from all six CHP groups.
