Thank You Junior Leader Readers!

Thanks to all our volunteers for the first installment of Junior Leader Reader this school year! Our readers passed out 1,300 copies of “If You Give a Pig a Party” to 72 preschool and kindergarten classrooms at 17 schools. JLR is available three times each school year to Shawnee County schools with a 50% or higher rate of free/reduced lunch. Books are purchased with funding from generous sponsors and donors and delivered by volunteers who also read the story to each class.

We'd like to extend a special thank you to the Jeff and Flo Beasley Foundation, and a matching gift from Evergy, for underwriting this round of JLR. Jeff Beasley was the 2011 United Way Campaign Chair. His son Joe is an active member of our Young Leaders Society and has served as a Campaign Ambassador from Capitol Federal.
