We said goodbye to our small-but-mighty crew of Campaign Ambassadors at our annual recognition breakfast on November 14. Campaign Ambassadors are loaned to United Way to help businesses across the area run engaging and productive workplace giving campaigns. For three months at the height of campaign season, these ambassadors reach out to local employers and support donors and campaign events. Along the way, they enhance valuable salesmanship skills, including public speaking, account management and community engagement. Some continue to serve United Way as volunteers for the Young Leaders Society or help at events. One class even got together to become the driving force behind our fledgling Bar Olympics event.
“Our Campaign Ambassadors are the backbone of our workplace campaign in the fall,” said Angel Romero, Vice President for Resource Development. “We could not reach out to the nearly 200 companies we do without their support. Because of their work, we are able to give more employees the chance to give, advocate and volunteer for their community.”
Jackie Welsh from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas was chosen by her fellow Ambassadors to speak on their behalf.
