First of all, thank you to all the individuals and companies that contributed more than $30,000 to the UWGT COVID-19 Relief Fund! Check out the story below for where the first installment of grants is helping in our community.
We have officially wrapped up our emergency fundraising and are preparing to support our community through the rest of this pandemic and in the long economic, educational and social recovery to follow. You will have many opportunities to help bring our community back to full strength, through advocating for local, state and national policy changes; through volunteering; and especially through donating.
The coming year is likely to be one of the hardest our community has faced in a long time. But United Way is built for this challenge. We already work with partners across the area to support life-changing initiatives and programs that help students, individuals and families reach a stronger, safer place with real hope for a brighter future. And we’ve been meeting with those partners every week for the past two months to help problem-solve in the moment and plan for the road ahead.
Whether you give regularly already through your workplace or as an individual donor, or if you haven’t given in years, we invite you to extend another helping hand on June 10, 2020, for the first-ever #YOUnitedWayTopeka Day of Caring. Your participation will help proven programs in early education, on-grade achievement, financial stability and basic needs survive in this challenging moment.
Go to unitedwaytopeka.org/dayofgiving for more details on projects you can support and how to help us unlock matching dollars with your gift. You can also RSVP to our Facebook event to get updates on virtual events happening on June 10.
Thank you, once again, for leading the way and showing everyone in our community how to LIVE UNITED.
