United Way of Greater Topeka invites Shawnee County kids and families to celebrate summer learning at the annual Summer “Spike” event presented by the Shawnee County Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. The lunchtime event returns July 9 for a second year to the Topeka Zoo.
This event reminds families that Topeka Public Schools nutrition services continue through July and encourages kids to engage in active learning activities to help offset the “summer slide” of learning loss when school is not in session. Staying engaged and learning is even more important after a constantly shifting pandemic school year.
