Welcome

Welcome to Our Campaign Ambassadors!

The end of August always means that it's time to welcome our Campaign Ambassadors! Each year progressive local businesses commit to providing one or more employees or sponsorships to further the work of United Way. These dedicated and talented people make up the United Way Campaign Ambassador team and support the annual United Way workplace campaign while also providing visibility for their employers.

Campaign Ambassadors manage workplace campaigns virtually and in-person by meeting and coordinating with employee teams and interacting with chief executive officers and employees. They are on the job from mid-August to mid-November.

This year's Ambassadors are:

  • Marie Carter, Topeka Public Schools
  • Jamie Cox, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas
  • Kelly Kogl, courtesy of CoreFirst Bank & Trust
  • Lee Martell, Stormont Vail Health
  • Rachel Meyer, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas
  • Chris Stephens, City of Topeka
  • Liz Walker, Capitol Federal Savings

We want to give a special shout out to Marie, Lee and Rachel, who are all returning Ambassadors! And Marie was the winner of our inaugural Hand-Raiser Award for her contributions as an Ambassador. (That's her in the photo below with Marty Hillard, Angel Romero and our CEO, Jessica Lehnherr.)

What you may not know is that service as a Campaign Ambassador is also a unique professional development opportunity that benefits both the employee and their organization. Companies who loan us an Ambassador receive:

  • increased visibility as a community-oriented employer and leader
  • greater understanding of the challenges to and services available in our community
  • cultivation of the leadership potential in their organization by inviting their current and emerging leaders to become partners in improving the community

Ambassadors profit from this experience by:

  • becoming more educated about United Way’s impact work and the challenges facing our community
  • polishing public speaking, project management, and sales skills
  • cultivating valuable community contacts

If you would like help from a UWGT Campaign Ambassador to get your workplace campaign running this year, please contact Marty Hillard, Director of Workplace Campaigns by email or by calling 785.228.5117.
