We are pleased to announce that the Kansas volunteer Commission has named UWGT as a subgrantee of the 2022 Kansas Volunteer Generation Fund Grant. We join six other volunteer and mentor organizations in receiving grants of $15-20,000 for one year.
The Commission received the VGF grant from AmeriCorps, the federal agency that oversees the nation’s volunteer initiatives.
UWGT will use these dollars to enhance community volunteer engagement and nonprofit capacity building through best practices and mentorship. Some of the initiatives include:
Board Leadership Training – UWGT is once again helping educate potential nonprofit board volunteers with this 8-hour introduction to board service. The first offering of this revitalized education session started January 19. An additional session has been planned for July 2022.
Topeka Volunteers: The Event – United Way hopes the third time is a charm for this new volunteer expo event scheduled for April 21, 2022, at Fairlawn Plaza. The pandemic twice prevented the in-person launch of this event which is designed to help the community discover new volunteer opportunities and meet representatives from nonprofits and service groups.
Volunteer Ambassador program – This new initiative will train volunteers to help nonprofits and service groups better utilize the TopekaVolunteers.org platform to communicate with and recruit volunteers.
