Our Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Jess Barraclough, recently was able to coordinate a shipment of always-needed diapers from Baby2Baby – www.baby2baby.org – a national nonprofit organization that distributes child resources across the country. And thanks to our friends at the Topeka Rescue Mission and their ability to take the shipment, we were able to receive and redistribute 31,850 diapers, with a total value of $6,100.
We offered the diapers to local agencies serving families with young children and were able serve 10 counties, with the majority of the shipment staying in Shawnee and Douglas counties. Diapers also went to organizations in Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee counties.
While there are no current openings in the Baby2Baby network this year, we will be looking to establish a permanent partnership in the future. One of the elements that would help us do this is access to a loading dock to receive shipments (storage at the same facility would be ideal). If you have suggestions for a possible community partner with a loading dock, please email Jess Barraclough.
