Welcome

Giving Thanks and November Updates

In this season of thanks, we want to let you know how much we appreciate the time, talent and treasure you choose to share, and how you are helping build a strong, healthy and equitable community for all of us. We’ll be back with a full newsletter in December, but in this week of thanksgiving, we just wanted to say THANK YOU!

Check out a few time-sensitive updates below and we’ll see you in December. Have a safe and healthy holiday!

Holiday Office Closure

Both our Topeka and Lawrence offices will be closed on Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25. As always, you can call 211 if you are in need of services or assistance.

Don’t Miss Your Christmas Bureau Chance!

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to adopt a Christmas Bureau family! The response has been consistent and amazing, and we are quickly closing in on our Giving Tuesday goal of having all 1,100 households matched! If you’ve been putting it off, don’t wait—go to bit.ly/uwgtgivingtuesday22 and click on adopt a family. (If you’ve already signed up, please be patient as we get you matched—that’s also our Giving Tuesday goal!)

Here's a link to our Giving Tuesday kickoff talking all about Christmas Bureau with Vice President of Community Impact Brett Martin: https://www.facebook.com/UnitedWayTopeka/videos/816269952960252

Give the Gift of Reading

Not able to adopt this year? Why not give the gift of reading to a child all year long with a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Shawnee County?  Use the same link as above to access our Imagination Library Giving Tuesday challenge and help us meet our goal of a full 60-book library for 40 kids. (That’s $5,000 we need to raise by next week!).

We’re excited to have our partners at the Topeka & Shawnee County Library hanging out with us on United Way TUESDAY specifically to talk about the impact of the Imagination Library in our community. Tune in LIVE November 22 at noon on our Facebook page, or catch the archived video anytime after.
