Tax Filing Time is Here

Did you know United Way helps people file their taxes for free? Check out https://myfreetaxes.com, a free filing portal that helps you self-file your return or connects you to someone who can help through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Filing a return can be scary and confusing, but it's important to make sure you get the refund or any credits that you are entitled to.

There are also great tax resources at your local library, along with folks who can get you pointed in the right direction.

  • Lawrence Public Library: https://lplks.org/tax-information/
  • Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library: https://tscpl.org/research/tax-info
  • Shawnee County residents who qualify can also visit the free tax preparation services provided by VITA and AARP. Learn more and see the schedule of tax clinics here: https://www.shawnee.k-state.edu/family-finance/
