News from Heartland Healthy Neighborhoods

HHN greenways 2023
Heartland Healthy Neighborhood's latest check presentation went to Shawnee County Parks and Recreation. The $75,000 grant will be used to update the county Greenways and Trails Master Plan. The current plan is more than 20 years old. The money awarded comes from Pathways to a Healthy Kansas funding, part of Shawnee County's Multimodal and Recreational Trails Package.

Safe Sleep 2023
HHN's Healthy Babies Workgroup held their annual Community Baby Shower for Safe Sleep with the Shawnee County Health Department and Topeka Public Schools Parents as Teachers. More than a dozen community partners participated in this important event, providing resources and learning opportunities for parents and caregivers. Attendees learned about resources available in our community and valuable information regarding safe sleep for their baby. As a thank you for coming, attendees went home with a portable crib, sleep sacks, diapers, and other items to help care for their babies.
