Looking for a fun and easy way to make a difference in the life of a child? Sign-up to be a Junior Leader Reader (JLR) volunteer!
JLR is a program of our Young Leaders Society (YLS) that provides free books to pre-k and kindergarten students throughout Shawnee County. To date, the program has distributed more than 50,000 books to kids!
Volunteers visit classrooms reading to the students and dropping off a copy of the book for everyone before they leave. United Way provides you with the books to distribute, as well as parent letters to go home with the students. Each classroom reading takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Volunteers of all ages are welcome!
