BCBSKS Pathways Grant Celebrates Four Years of Impact

LiveWell SNCO collage with group photo.png

LiveWell Shawnee County recently celebrated the completion of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas' Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Phase II grant. This four-year grant initiative focused on healthy eating, active living, and commercial tobacco cessation. LiveWell members, grant partners, and governmental entities used these dollars to make a big impact in Shawnee County that will benefit the health of all for years to come.

In alignment with our healthy community goals, United Way serves as the fiscal agent for LiveWell Shawnee County and employs Sarah Karns, the LiveWell Shawnee County Director. Together, both organizations engage in work that positively affects the social determinants of health. Over the past four years, those efforts have included the Community Health Improvement Plan process, supporting healthy activity in Rossville with new walking trails, providing play equipment for local childcare providers, and updating the county's plan for walking and biking trails.

Thank you to Sarah, and to our Vice President of Community Impact, Brett Martin, for their years of commitment and work to make Shawnee County a healthy place to live and work!
