How much money can you raise in one day to invest in healthy and resilient communities? You answered that question on our 6th Annual Day of Giving with a whopping total of $28,102.22!
The impact of your gifts will be felt throughout the four counties we serve. Here are just a few things your dollars make possible:
You also collected 252 pounds of food for our partners at Just Food through our food drive at Checkers! This donation comes at a critical time as federal budget cuts, combined with rising food insecurity, put additional strain on our partners in food supports.
Special thanks to WIBW for once again serving as our television sponsor this year, and to Great Plains Media for providing an all-day radiothon for our Douglas County partners to share their story. Our friends from Dexter’s Grill & Pub also made it possible to feed the hard-working staff of Great Plains Media all day on the Day of Giving.
A special thanks as well to our Day of Giving food sponsors! Many of you got to enjoy tasty bites from The Burger Bus in Topeka, or Brain Freeze or Set ‘Em Up Jacks in Lawrence on the Day of Giving. Each of these establishments also donated a portion of their proceeds to United Way.
Finally, a special thanks to Azura Credit Union for their support of the Day of Giving. Congrats to Mary Chapman, our drawing winner who will receive two box seat tickets to see Cyndi Lauper this summer at Azura Amphitheatre!
Whether you gave online, dined at one of our food partners, or donated at the food drive, thank you for all of your support of our Day of Giving! United truly is the way we can build a community where everyone can thrive.
