Grant Announcements

In Douglas County, Racial Equity Grants were awarded to three grantees this spring. These grants are invested in grassroots and/or community nonprofit organizations in Douglas County, KS with projects focused on increasing equity and opportunities for local BIPOC communities. These grants provide support for organizations or individuals whose work benefits people with low incomes, communities of color, and historically and/or systematically marginalized people.

Herman's Place

Herman's Place is a neighborhood centered program that provides meals to single parent families, homeless, veterans, and seniors.

Kindness is Key

Kindness is Key provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for 170 families, and Christmas gifts for more than 400 children and 200 adults. Kindness is Key also distributes hundreds of learning kits to elementary, middle and high school students.

LRM (Life Restoration Ministries) Foundation

At LRM's Cultural Storytelling & Math Literacy Events, BIPOC youth experience learning opportunities that blend cultural heritage and intergenerational storytelling, demonstrating the impact of sharing stories from elders and incorporating them into learning experiences.
