We had a great day for our annual Volunteer Expo in Shawnee County. More than 50 nonprofits set up shop in Fairlawn Plaza for four hours to meet potential volunteers, network with their nonprofit peers and even get a little free professional development courtesy of United Way.
An estimated 200 people spent time getting to know our local organizations and how they use volunteers to expand their capacity to serve.
Two wise attendees also captured a special bonus for visiting at least three tables. Jensen N. won a $50 gift certificate donated by Glory Days Pizza, and Larry R. hit the jackpot with a $100 gift card good donated by AIM restaurants. Congratulations to our winners and many thanks to those donors!
If you missed the Expo, never fear! Head to KawValleyVolunteers.org to learn more about the organizations that serve our area and how you can help them.
Thank you to Fairlawn Plaza for always being such a great host for community events.
Thank you especially to SLI for the use of their space once again for our hospitality room and professional development presentation. Be sure to support them when Festival of Trees rolls around!
Thank you to Chavez, Inc., for sponsoring the snacks that kept our exhibitors fueled for the event.
Thank you to the Aleshire Center for Leadership and Community Engagement at Washburn University, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Kansas Gas Service for their sponsorship of the Volunteer Expo.
Thanks also to our friends at the Topeka Housing Authority for their help with tables and chairs!
