On December 4th, we celebrated our leadership donors with a holiday reception. Donors who had pledged $1,000 or more enjoyed light appetizers and drinks while networking and discovering more about the affinity groups United Way leads. Women United and the Young Leaders Society were featured through guest speakers Hayli Morrison and Joe Beasley. Attendees learned more about each group and the positive impact that these groups create in our community. Women United uplifts women and children by fulfilling emergency grant requests as well as creating networking and volunteering opportunities for Women United members. Young Leaders Society is a group of community-oriented individuals or couples 40- years-old or younger (or young at heart) who are committed to advancing the United Way goals in education, income and health. They work on projects such as the Born Learning Trail and Junior Leader Reader, a free book reading and giveaway program aimed at kindergarten and preschool students. Since it's inception Junior Leader Reader has gifted more than 40,000 books to children who otherwise might have no books of their own at home.
Please keep an eye out for our next quarterly leadership event in March. We would love to have you! Not a current leadership donor? Contact us to increase your pledge to the leadership level or make a new leadership gift.
