Volunteers are indispensable in our community and are especially crucial for agencies stretched thin by the pandemic. United Way is working hard to find new ways to safely match those with time and talent to agencies that need their help.
Nancy Perry Day of Caring 2020 includes new virtual volunteering opportunities (in addition to some socially distanced in-person projects), and we invite individuals as well as companies to help meet the volunteer need on September 18.
Day of Caring opportunities are now open at http://bit.ly/NPDOC2020. You will need to have or create a free TopekaVolunteers.org account to sign up. Volunteers who commit to an opportunity by September 1 will be guaranteed the exclusive Day of Caring t-shirt designed by Jennifer Goetz.
All volunteer opportunities have been classified as no added exposure, potentially low added exposure or potentially moderate added exposure. Nonprofits all over town have brainstormed some virtual volunteering projects that you can complete or contribute to from your own home or office. Those opportunities might be assembling hygiene or educational kits, helping enter data or even providing some technical skills like graphic design or web page maintenance. Outdoor, in-person opportunities will be available, as well as some limited indoor opportunities where social distancing is still possible. Thank you for helping keep this annual tradition alive!
