If you follow us on social media, you know we always make a big deal of Dolly Parton's birthday each January. As a Shawnee County co-champion for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (with our partners at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library), we are indebted to her vision of literacy for all children. We couldn't think of a better gift for the woman who has everything than to make sure even more kiddos were signed up to get a free book every month.
We set a goal of 75 new registrations in just one week and asked you all to spread the word. You jumped in and blew right by that goal, helping us enroll 84 new children in the Imagination Library! Thank you for creating a culture of shared literacy for our community. Your support gets us closer to our community goal of making sure all children are ready to succeed in kindergarten.
Important note:
The Imagination Library is always free to participants. Local champions like United Way of Greater Topeka take on the work of managing the program and fundraising. If you would like to ensure the future of this valuable early literacy strategy in our community, you can donate online at ReadTopeka.org or send a check to United Way of Greater Topeka, 1527 SW Fairlawn Rd., Topeka, KS 66604,
