Looking for a quick and easy way to make a child’s day in Shawnee County? Volunteer to read to a classroom as part of our Young Leaders Society’s Junior Leader Reader (JLR) program!
Through JLR, our Young Leaders Society distributes hundreds of free books to pre-k and kindergarten students throughout Shawnee County. This academic year, the JLR program passed a special milestone- distributing over 50,000 books since the program’s inception!
Volunteers help distribute books by signing-up to read to a classroom. After completing their reading, the volunteer gets to then distribute a copy of the book to every student in the classroom. Believe it or not, for some students, this may be the first book that has ever belonged only to them! Classroom readings can be as quick as 15 minutes. Several spots are still available for readings in the next week- click here to sign-up: https://bit.ly/JLR_March23.
