We are proud of our AmeriCorps members serving in Douglas County and will be sharing a little about them in our upcoming newsletters. This month our AmeriCorps spotlight is on Erin K, who serves at Douglas County Public Health.
Erin K. is a native Kansan from Garden City. She graduated from KU in 2005 and 2006 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration and a master's degree in accounting and information systems. After a 20-year career in accounting, Erin considers herself a "recovering" CPA and completed her master's in mental health counseling from Northwestern University in 2021. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a specialty license in addiction counseling. Erin completed her internship at DCCCA Lawrence Outpatient, and is now serving AmeriCorps to transition from the world of accounting and finance to a career in behavioral health counseling.
Erin loves the outdoors, and spent 12 years living in Colorado snow skiing, camping, and hiking. She also enjoys family time at Wilson Lake with her nieces and nephews. Erin loves dogs, and is a loving caretaker of two West Highland terriers. Both of Erin's grandfathers served in WWII, and she is proudly an AmeriCorps member in their honor.
