Intake Volunteers (we especially need Spanish-speaking or bilingual volunteers)
October 30, November 4, 7, 9
Responsibilities: meeting with individual clients to help process the Intake Form for Christmas Bureau. You will need to be able to verify all required documentation of every client and make sure that every Intake Form is legible and complete. You will also need to make sure clients are eligible by income verification to ensure we are serving those who need the help the most. Sometimes this means you will need to turn people away should their income exceed the 200% Federal Poverty level limit.
All Intake Volunteers will be required to complete a training to review the changes in the intake process, this training will be virtual and held on Monday, October 28 at noon.
Intake Greeters
October 30, November 4, 7, 9
Responsibilities: greeting clients as they enter the building. You will ensure they have all required documentation and the form is completely filled out. You will then assign them a number to be processed by an intake volunteer.
All Intake Volunteers will be required to complete a training to review the changes in the intake process; this training will be virtual, and held on Monday, October 28 at noon.
On-Site Data Entry Volunteers
October 30, November 4, 7, 9
Responsibilities: reading and entering individual or family information from intake forms into a secure database system. Individuals must be organized and able to read handwritten responses as well as work with computer programs to enter information into the computer-based system. Individuals must complete a confidentiality waiver before they can participate in this volunteer opportunity.
All volunteers will be required to participate in an online training to volunteer for this position, scheduled for Friday, October 25th at noon.
Call Center Volunteers
Opportunities through December 20
Volunteers will report to United Way of Kaw Valley to complete their volunteer shift.
For this volunteer opportunity, individuals are responsible for making phone calls to potential adopters or request donations for Christmas Bureau. They may also respond to calls that come into the call center. This will require the volunteer to call back adopters or adoptees to respond to there questions. It may also require some research of the data forms at the United Way of Kaw Valley Office.
Christmas Bureau Adopters
Starting around November 1, with delivery of gifts and food the week before Christmas
This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, groups of friends or coworkers, and faith or service groups. Help a neighbor in need by "adopting" a family or individual. Volunteers will purchase and wrap gift items from a personal wish list for each member of the household along with holiday meal items. Adopters are asked to communicate with their adoptee to clarify wish list and food preferences and to set a delivery date and time. This year, you can expect to spend $95 to adopt an individual ($40 for food, $45 for gifts). The suggested amount for a family of 4 is $235.
