Health

Better health leads to a higher quality of life and lower healthcare costs for everyone.

Eat, Move, Live

heart.pngConsider that obesity contributes to heart disease, cancer, stroke and high blood pressure and that obese adults cost $1,400 more per year in medical care than non-obese adults. In Northeast Kansas 31.2 percent of adults are considered obese.  A majority of Shawnee County residents are considered overweight or obese, and only 20% of adults get the recommended amount of physical activity.

We’re working with partners to:

  • Promote and support affordable healthy food and beverage choices         Health-fruit and Health icon
  • Facilitate, support, and encourage increased physical activity
